ROBERT’S OF CHARLESTON – A FINE DINING EXPERIENCE

If you missed going to any Spoleto events, have no fear Robert’s is here. Unable to make any Spoleto events this year, I decided to surprise my mother with dinner at Robert’s of Charleston. It was a special seating early in the evening for anyone that had tickets to any Spoleto events. Visiting from New York and an avid fan of arts, I thought this would be the perfect way to treat my mother by spending an evening enjoying an upscale meal and some entertainment. Robert’s is located on East Bay Street in downtown historic Charleston. When I walked into this unique restaurant it was like walking into another world. The room is long and narrow. At the top of the room to the right is a piano and to left all the way back to the kitchen are the tables. Pictures from Broadway musicals line the wall. Each course brought something new to the pallet and was evidence of its award winning Chef MariElena Raya, who received her training at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. She also happens to be Robert’s daughter. I also have to mention the top notch service from the wait staff.  While my taste buds danced, the singers came out to wow us with their unbelievable talent by singing tunes from La Traviatta, Santa Lucia and West Side Story. I was moved to tears and was reminded of Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman the first time she heard opera music.   If you appreciate great talent and love fine dining, make your reservations at Robert’s of Charleston, it will be an experience you soon won’t forget.
