A little bit of history goes a long way…

One of the things I love about being broker of Prudential’s Folly Road Office is having the opportunity to share with people who are interested in becoming an agent, or agents who have been in the business for a while, how joining our Folly Road office can help jump start their career. I also gain a great deal of joy from experiencing an agent joining our office and seeing their business blossom. I’ll attach some testimonials to share with you.Our business has changed so much over the past thirty years. If we go back to the 70′s and early 80′s many real estate companies operated with the Broker or owner being the sole decision maker on advertising, how individuals would market their listings and how the money was spent. In the late 80′s and 90′s the agents decided they wanted more control over their business, they were independent contractors, wanted to be in charge of marketing their listings, in control of the money and this is when compensations were changed. In the year 2000 the consumer expectations of the Realtor changed. They wanted information quicker and faster, they wanted full service, they wanted an agent who was knowledgeable, not only on what was on the market they could get that from the internet, they want an agent who was fully informed of the other aspects of the real estate business, facts that they felt were necessary to have before making a decision,, companies with vision were able to guide, direct and educate their agents to fulfill this need.

The obvious question is why the Folly Road Office?

First, to be successful you have to be around successful people, believe it or not, an atmosphere conducive to the growth of all is of prime importance, with the media and many agents speaking of our market as if sales are a thing of the past, it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy for many. I don’t want you to feel I’m misleading you, we all know sales in the past year have been down however, there were 12,382 sales in our Tri County area. To earn a decent income in the six figures, you only have to achieve 20 – 25 sales at $200,000 – $ 250,000 to make over a hundred thousand. That might scare some agents and to others it might appear easy. Although, to do this, you have to have systems in place, a business plan, to guide and direct you, also, the plan has to be evaluated on a regular basis to see what’s working for you where you can improve. Do you need to change it?
