The decision to finally purchase my own home was not an easy one. For many years, I had been a renter. I was comfortable with the fact that I was not committed to anything but giving 30 days notice when I was ready to leave. Becoming part of the Prudential team, I was surrounded by professionals that would help me realize that I could own and would be better off if I did. So if you are toying with the idea and not sure what to do, don’t fret. Overwhelmed as you might be by all the buzz about the real estate market, close your ears and follow my steps.
The first step I took was to meet with someone from the Home Mortgage Choices team from one of our Prudential offices. This was key. I provided them with some information and they outlined how much of a mortgage for which I was qualified. The process was painless. The results told me the amount my payments would be for the amount of mortgage I would take based on my down payment. Once I decided on a payment that I was comfortable with I was able to work with one of our many qualified agents to look at properties in my price range.
Don’t wait until somebody drops a house on you. Once you see how easy it is, you won’t be able to contain your excitement, but don’t rush. Wait until you find exactly what you are looking for in the neighborhood that you want to live in. Once I found what I considered to be the perfect place for me we began the negotiations and before I knew it, it was time to call the movers. From beginning to end I had the peace of mind that my needs were being met and protected. It couldn’t have been easier than if I clicked my heels three times and said those magic words.
